On November 6th, in Hanoi, the Vietnam-Korea ICT Cooperation Forum 2023 officially opened. The event was organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications of Vietnam in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam, the Korea IT Cooperation Center in Hanoi (the National IT Industry Promotion Agency of Korea – NIPA), and the Ministry of Science and ICT of Korea.

Organized for the third time, the forum was an opportunity for fostering collaboration in the field of information technology and digital transformation, as well as discussing digital technology policies, technological development, and workforce training between Vietnam and South Korea.

CMC Technology Corporation participated in the forum, showcasing a booth featuring its products and services in the field of information technology (IT) applications. Additionally, CMC shared insights into its digital transformation solutions for the government sector.

Opportunities for exchanging and sharing collaboration needs in the fields of information technology and digital transformation between the two countries.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Phan Tam assessed that this is a promising space to promote collaboration between the two countries in the fields of information technology and communication – one of the areas that strongly influences all aspects of life and socio-economic activities.

“South Korea is a leading country in the digital technology field and is an important partner of Vietnam. We share many commonalities and opportunities for collaboration, especially in the development of digital government and digital workforce. Over recent time, both sides have engaged in specific and practical cooperation activities, such as workforce training, enhancing capabilities for Vietnamese agencies, consulting on the drafting of laws on electronic transactions and digital industry, and implementing the Vietnam-Korea ITCP project. Through this forum, I hope that we can share experiences and strengthen cooperation between the two countries, thereby discovering new collaborative opportunities,” Deputy Minister Phan Tam remarked.

The 3rd Vietnam-Korea Digital Forum is expected to address the widespread interest and collaboration needs in the fields of information technology and digital transformation between Vietnam and South Korea. This includes policies on digital technology, technological development, workforce training, serving as an opportunity for the two countries to continue their cooperation.

Focusing on the Digital Government and Digital Workforce.

According to Mr. Jung Seung, Deputy Director of the National IT Industry Promotion Agency of Korea, this year, the forum has chosen Digital Government and the Digital Workforce as the main topics for discussion during the digital transformation across all sectors and industries.

“Through digital transformation and collaborative methods between countries, new forms have been discovered. We hope that, based on the solid trust in our comprehensive strategic partnership, Vietnam and Korea will jointly address new challenges and continue to maintain close cooperation and exchanges in the field of digital transformation. The Korea IT Industry Promotion Agency is committed to making continuous efforts to stand side by side with organizing agencies, enhancing bilateral cooperation in the field of digital transformation between the two countries,” Mr. Jung Seung stated.

The Vietnam-Korea Digital Transformation Forum not only involves the participation of leaders from the two specialized ministries in the field of Information and Communications of Vietnam and Korea but also attracts the involvement of leading companies in the fields of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR) from South Korea.

CMC brings digital transformation solutions for the government sector.

Participating in the forum, Mr. Le Quang Anh (CEO of CMC Technology and Solution Company – CMC TS) delivered a presentation on CMC’s digital transformation solutions for the government sector.

Representatives from CMC introduced typical solutions such as eDocman for document management and operation, E-Archivist for digital storage, Civams.Face for facial recognition, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), Envisoft for environmental monitoring, and an audio processing solution, among others. These solutions support the government sector in advancing digital transformation.

At the same time, Mr. Le Quang Anh shared successful deployment models that CMC has implemented to provide forum participants with an objective and specific view of the solutions.

Furthermore, within the program, there were demo booths showcasing solutions in various fields, such as AI healthcare solutions supporting quick and accurate diagnosis of thoracic diseases, brain aneurysms, etc.; medical storage and imaging solutions; services and platforms for smart cities and digital security based on IT, cloud, and AI; XR solutions and simulation systems for smart transportation; integrated solutions in smart city management, and more.

On the same afternoon, the Vietnam-Korea IT Cooperation Alliance was officially established. This marks the first time an organization connecting Vietnam and Korea, representing the information technology businesses of both countries, has been introduced. The organization plays a role in facilitating collaboration, providing information on government-supported programs for businesses from both sides, and establishing partnerships to organize activities supporting businesses in accessing and penetrating the market.
