Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh, Rector of CMC University, remarked.” Against the backdrop of globalization and the technological boom of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, higher education is the place where the workforce for the digital economy, digital society, and the development of science and technology is shaped. With a solid foundation as the CMC Technology Group, CMC University is oriented towards internationally recognized standards of education to prepare students to become ‘Digital Thinkers,’ ready for the changes of the future. In the role of the President of CMC University, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh believes that despite facing numerous challenges, the university is making steady progress on the path of educating the younger generation with the goal of “Real learning, real exams, real quality.” We had a conversation with Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh ?the President of the university Reporter: Hello Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh! We are currently living in the fourth industrial revolution with achievements in digital transformation, IoT, artificial intelligence (AI), etc. So, what are your expectations for the younger generation, especially Gen Z students, when they are facing the rapid changes in the world? Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh: Today’s young generation belongs to the middle generation of Gen Z, born during the Internet explosion. However, up until now, essentially, you have been users. When you step into university, you must learn not only to be users but also to create applications and tools for others. Therefore, I expect the younger generation to become increasingly proactive, always asking questions to develop and master technology. At the same time, as you enter the era of information technology and knowledge, find a dream for yourself. It’s not something distant but rather setting a task to explore, innovate, and affirm yourself. Reporter: With that expectation, what directions does CMC University have for its students to become “digital thinkers” and be prepared for the “digital future”? Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh: The orientation for students essentially answers the questions of what to learn and how to learn. CMC University has designed and developed a program that aligns with the current era and meets the aspirations of young people. Additionally, after graduation, students need to adapt to technological changes and meet the demands of the job market at that time. The second important orientation is to “place students at the center” so that they acquire knowledge, skills, and access to jobs as early as possible. With this orientation, students will find employment early, and even second or third-year students can participate in projects with CMC Technology Group or the Group’s domestic and international partners. To implement this training program, the role of the teacher is crucial. The institution must have advanced teaching approaches. The term “advanced” here encompasses timeless, international, pioneering, and efficient qualities. Therefore, lecturers bear a significant responsibility. For this reason, CMC University requires its faculty to continuously upgrade themselves, innovate in terms of knowledge, teaching methods, and evaluation techniques. Reporter: With the advantage of being a university within a business conglomerate, how has the institution leveraged this opportunity in recent years? Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh: It can be seen that the member companies within the CMC Group are always ready to collaborate with the university to create internship opportunities and experiences for students. Compared to universities outside of business conglomerates, this is a significant advantage for ?nh ph?m - Tr ch?i bi mi?n ph. The research and study activities of students not only have academic significance but also practical applications, addressing real-world issues. Member companies actively anticipate and provide opportunities for students to engage in the operations of the enterprises, as well as the Applied Technology Research Institute (ATI) of the CMC Technology Group. Through early exposure to work, students will have extensive career opportunities not only within the conglomerate but also in other domestic and international enterprises. The university also commits to providing 100% employment for students majoring in IT in bilingual mode at Samsung Group and CMC Technology Group. Thank you for the insights shared by Associate Professor Nguyen Ngoc Binh! In 2023, CMC University (school code: CMC) plans to admit 1,300 undergraduate students for 6 majors: Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Graphic Design, Japanese Language, and Korean Language. Choosing to study at CMC University, new students have the opportunity to receive attractive scholarships covering 50%, 70%, and 100% of the tuition fees for the entire course from the “CMC ?Because You Deserve It” Scholarship Fund, totaling 92 billion VND. At the exhibition, Master – Artist Nguyen Minh Kien, Lecturer at the Department of Fine Arts and Design, CMC University, had the honor of receiving the “Illustration Art of Vietnamese Press and Publishing 2023” award presented by the Vietnam Fine Arts Association. Held at the Exhibition House 16 Ngô Quyền, Hanoi, the exhibition “Illustration Art of Vietnamese Press and Publishing 2023” introduced to the public over 1,000 outstanding illustration works by 55 artists from the journalism and publishing sector nationwide. With outstanding artworks and years of dedicated contribution to the field of Illustration for the Press and Publishing in Vietnam, Master – Artist Nguyen Minh Kien, Lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Design, CMC University, was honored to receive the “Illustration Art of Vietnamese Press and Publishing 2023” award presented by the Vietnam Fine Arts Association. Engaged in the art of illustration from a very young age, with works featured in various media publications, to date, Artist Nguyen Minh Kien has created numerous illustrations for the Education Publishing House, particularly in the field of historical comic books. Speaking about the feelings upon receiving this prestigious award, the lecturer at CMC University shared, “The illustration art exhibition has been organized twice before, and this is the third time and also my first time participating with more than 50 illustrators in Vietnam. This award is like an encouragement for me to continue my dedication to the art of illustration.” The special feature of the “Illustration Art of Vietnamese Press and Publishing 2023” exhibition is the gathering of artists from three regions – experts in illustrating press and publishing. Each author brings a different style and expressive language to the artworks. Commenting on the role of illustration art in the development of journalism, Artist Nguyen Minh Kien stated, “Illustration in journalism and publishing is an integral part of the media field, helping readers better understand the content and messages being conveyed, stimulating and elucidating the content. Illustration art has a long history, closely associated with the publishing and printing industry. In developed countries, illustration has become a part of the publishing industry, such as manga in Japan, Korea, and Western countries.” According to him, along with the development of information technology, all fields are undergoing changes, including illustration art facing new opportunities and challenges. Illustration art is now shifting towards online platforms, requiring a faster drawing and processing speed to adapt to various multimedia communication formats. “Nearly 20 years ago, I used to work at a Korean comic illustration company in Vietnam with a very industrialized process. However, currently, there is no university in Vietnam that trains illustration. Most illustrators have to research and perfect their skills on their own. Perhaps, that is also a reason why the publishing industry in Vietnam still lacks publications that can be exported like those in Japan or Korea.” “To help students better understand the illustration creation process, the Graphic Design program at CMC University offers courses in this field. Students familiarize themselves with digital illustration through electronic drawing devices, utilizing technology to create art during their training to meet the demands of the rapidly evolving multimedia communication, especially in the digital platform,” shared Illustrator Nguyen Minh Kien. “In addition to the art exhibition, the event also featured a panel discussion with the theme ‘Journalistic Illustration Art.’ This was an opportunity for connection and exchange between the editorial boards of major newspapers and the leadership of publishing houses with numerous publications utilizing illustration. It aimed to facilitate the exchange of professional stories and the artistic journey of illustration alongside the Vietnamese press over the years. The panel discussion brought forth unique stories and experiences, providing valuable insights for editorial boards of journalism and publishing. It aimed to enhance their understanding of the role of illustration art in journalism, fostering a shared vision for a resilient and steadfast future in the digital age of journalistic illustration art. In 2023, CMC University is admitting students for the Graphic Design bachelor’s program with application acceptance scores starting from 22.5 based on the high school transcript evaluation method. The Graphic Design program at CMC University equips students with a solid foundation of knowledge, covering basic art principles, design methodologies, application techniques, and the utilization of technology in graphic design. The curriculum also addresses global trends in graphic design applications. Additionally, students receive training in hand-drawing skills and digital painting techniques. Early submission of application documents increases the chances of receiving a 100% tuition fee scholarship for the entire course from the ‘CMC – Because You Deserve It’ Scholarship Fund, with a total value of 92 billion VND, at the website: //xettuyen.spa-g.com/.

Dang Thi Nga was born and raised in Na Phat village, Phuc Khanh commune, Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province. Growing up in a farming family in a northern mountainous district, the Dao Tuyen ethnic girl always carries the determination to learn and overcome difficult circumstances. The motivation to strive in my studies comes from my parents. ?Congratulations on becoming the top student in the C00 group at CMC University and receiving a full scholarship. Could you please share your secrets to success during your high school years? ?I am fortunate compared to other peers in the village as I had the opportunity to study at the provincial Boarding Ethnic High School in Lao Cai. This is a high-quality educational institution with excellent, dedicated, and enthusiastic teachers. Due to the nature of the boarding school environment that requires self-reliance, in addition to the scheduled classes taught by teachers, self-study plays a crucial role. During self-study hours, I allocate time for each subject reasonably, exchange ideas with friends in the same and different classes about unclear issues. Moreover, I also study with online lectures provided by teachers on various websites. And, of course, one essential aspect is to pay attention during class, complete assignments before class, and fulfill all assigned tasks. These are some study strategies I have applied throughout my high school years. Female student Dang Thi Nga – Top student from the ethnic Dao Tuyen group receives a full scholarship from ?nh ph?m - Tr ch?i bi mi?n ph. ?As a small girl growing up amidst mountains and forests, facing challenging learning conditions, what motivation drove you to persist continuously to achieve the accomplishments you have today? ?The greatest motivation comes from my parents. Seeing the smiles on my parents’ faces when I achieve many accomplishments brings happiness. From childhood until now and in the future, my parents will always be the motivation for me to strive not only in my academic path but also in my career. Another motivation that drives me to strive in my studies is myself. I always want to become a better version of myself. Joy of receiving a full scholarship ?How did you feel when you received the 100% tuition Liberal scholarship from CMC University? ?When I received the 100% scholarship from CMC, I was truly surprised. I shared my joy and happiness with my parents, sister, friends, and everyone around me. But alongside the joy, I also had a bit of concern about whether I had the ability to maintain the scholarship throughout my studies. That concern has become the motivation for me to strive and sustain the scholarship I have earned. ?Coming from a remote mountainous district to enroll in Hanoi, can you share the difficulties you have faced after becoming a freshman? ?Transitioning from Lao Cai to Hanoi for my studies, I faced certain challenges such as the distant location, unfamiliar streets, being away from friends, coupled with the fact that my family’s financial situation is not well-off. My parents had to support two older siblings in university and a younger one, which added some pressure. However, I believe that within challenges lie opportunities. The pressure from my parents has opened up better opportunities for me—to step out of my comfort zone and strive on the chosen path, achieving even greater success. All my efforts are not just for personal development but also to alleviate the burdens on my parents. Dang Thi Nga with her mother on the day of enrollment at ?nh ph?m - Tr ch?i bi mi?n ph. ?Nga, could you share some of your impressions about the university you chose to accompany you throughout your college years? ?Before enrolling, I received advice from the admissions office and gathered information about the university, but I still couldn’t help but be surprised on the first day stepping into the lecture halls of ?nh ph?m - Tr ch?i bi mi?n ph. The university boasts modern facilities, a friendly and professional team of faculty, lecturers, and staff. I believe I made the right choice, and this is an excellent environment to fully immerse myself in the college experience. Dang Thi Nga’s notable achievements: Encouragement prize for scientific exploration and life skills; third prize in Literature at the district level in grade 7; encouragement prize in online Physics at the district level in grade 7; second prize in Literature at the district level in grade 8; encouragement prize in Literature at the district level in grade 9; third prize in scientific research at the district level in grade 9; fourth prize in provincial-level scientific research in grade 11; second prize in Citizenship Education at the provincial level in grade 12; received commendation from the provincial chairman and the Odon Vallet scholarship in grade 12.

But let’s start with the old story, with the ambition to make CMC a global digital company, a reliable digital transformation partner for businesses at home and abroad. Up to this point, what achievements have you and your colleagues achieved compared to expectations? – Exactly! CMC’s strategy for the next 5 years is to become a leading digital transformation group providing services to businesses both domestically and internationally, with a particular focus on the region, while also aiming to be a global conglomerate. However, no matter how well the strategic forecasts are, life still holds many surprises! 2021 was the first year in that 5-year journey, and we had to face numerous challenges due to the pandemic. But this was also an opportunity to showcase resilience and adaptability. We developed two scenarios: cautious and growth, also known as “baseline” and “big move.” Without hiding anything, in 2021 alone, CMC achieved 100% of its set goals, even surpassing expectations. – Indeed, an impressive achievement in the year of Covid! But instead of focusing on strengthening existing areas, why did you decide to invest in higher education on the journey to achieve the $1 billion revenue, particularly during such a challenging time? CMC is a business, and I am an entrepreneur, so the first part of the story revolves around economics and the organization’s vision. To become a global enterprise with billions of dollars in revenue by 2025, the group’s workforce needs to reach 10,000-15,000 people. Currently, we only have 4,200 colleagues, so CMC needs to triple its workforce in the next 5 years. To attract high-quality talent, it is essential to build a strategic human resource development plan. This is the first reason why we decided to invest in the field of education, to meet our own growing needs and attract top-notch professionals. And more importantly, after nearly 30 years of building and developing, CMC wants to contribute more to society, to “give back” for what the country has helped us achieve today. I believe that with the current development reality and needs of Vietnam, education is the best place for CMC to realize its ideals. – Let me interrupt the Chairman, expressing gratitude to society as a business probably just requires engaging in charitable activities to be recognized, don’t you think so? Doing charity is like giving someone a fish rather than teaching them how to fish. I believe that the most useful thing for the country is to invest in education, to create long-term products for society – individuals with the capability and qualities needed to collectively realize Vietnam’s powerful dream in the vision of 2045, marking 100 years of the country’s establishment, as set by the leaders. CMC aims to join other ICT companies in making Vietnam a global digital service provider, becoming a digital hub in the region. At the very least, alongside technology and business, we can contribute in terms of human resources. – Education and training are indeed crucial, as you mentioned, but it’s also a field that has caused quite a bit of disappointment. How does your perception of repaying the country and society through education and training originate, and what role do you see this sector playing in your view? As you know, I used to work as a state research officer before starting my own business. I have always been aware that for a country to develop and for businesses to achieve sustainable growth, there is a need for good individuals, fresh minds, and education and training are crucial in shaping such individuals. To be more specific, from a demand perspective, emphasizing qualities and ethics defines a good individual, while a fresh mind refers to someone with knowledge and skills in line with the progress of the times. Therefore, no matter where or when, it is universally emphasized that education and training are a nation’s foundation, not just in Vietnam. You can observe that countries that have reached a similar level of development as Vietnam today have subsequently made rapid breakthroughs to become fully industrialized and developed nations, with a priority placed on the development of education and human resources. – Education is very difficult, so what is the connection between education and a corporation with rich experience in technology and services? ?There are quite a few people wondering if the “Fourth Industrial Revolution?or “digital transformation?is just a slogan in Vietnam? For me personally, digital transformation will save the national budget, individuals’ pockets, businesses, and contribute significantly to the economy. However, digital transformation is accompanied by challenges that both the government and society must address, such as developing infrastructure, ensuring information security, and especially meeting the workforce demands. To have a competent and fresh workforce, as I mentioned earlier, the role of businesses is indispensable. Businesses act as both customers using the products of education and as targets and guides for education. They are also companions in educational activities, helping learners master and understand the knowledge and skills more thoroughly. This is the synergy between education and technology businesses that CMC has been pursuing for many years. – Speaking in this way means that the business wants to be involved from the beginning to have a high-quality workforce. So why did CMC choose to invest in CMC University instead of primary or secondary schools, or an educational system from elementary to university? Investing in higher education is just the first step. CMC has decided to invest in the field of education as a whole, encompassing all levels and disciplines, from preschool to university and postgraduate studies. I believe that when venturing into the education sector, it is advisable to engage in all areas, not just focusing on higher education. However, CMC has chosen higher education as a starting point because this segment has the most immediate and […]
